Photo Walks and Field Trips

Join us for a field trip to explore Boston and the North End on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. This is a great opportunity for street photography as well as architectural photography and food photography (think Mike’s Pastries).

What to bring:

  • A decent walk around lens (eg. 24-105 mm or a 50 mm).
  • A wide angle lens for skyline photos.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes. There will be a fair amount of walking.
  • Money for the ferry, lunch, and personal shopping.

Travel Timetable:

  • 7:45 am - Park and Ride on Rt 124 (Pleasant Lake Ave) Harwich. 
  • 6:30 p.m. - Return to Park and Ride (estimated).
  • Please notify the trip coordinator if you prefer to make your own travel arrangements to meet up in Hingham or Boston.

Travel Details:

  • Those who are interested may form car pools. We will depart at 8:00 am sharp.
  • We will drive to the ferry terminal in Hingham, 28 Shipyard Dr., Hingham and board the 9:45 am ferry to Rowes Wharf.
  • The ferry takes 30 minutes and costs $9.75 each way and includes a free parking pass.
  • The ferry ride should provide great photo opportunities of the Boston skyline from the ferry in both directions. 

Boston Itinerary: 

  • We will proceed northward along Atlantic Avenue toward the North End and the Rose Kennedy Greenway, and the North End.
  • There will be opportunities for street photography.
  • Lunch in the North End and around the Greenway.
  • If time allows, we may also explore Faneuil Hall, Haymarket and Boston Market. 

Afterwards we will return to Rowes Wharf to catch the 4:30 pm ferry back to Hingham. We will probably be back to Harwich around 6:30 pm. 

If the weather is not cooperative, the rain date will be March 27th.
